The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, has accepted an apology from the Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Dr. Richard Kofi Asiedu, over the alleged attack on Obaatanpa FM in Kasoa.
Speaking at a meeting held at the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra, Mr. Dwumfour commended the Chairman for taking responsibility and appearing before the Association to address the matter.
The GJA President said the Association welcomed the gesture and urged the management and staff of Obaatanpa FM to accept the apology in good faith.
“We accept the apology and urge the Obaatanpa Radio team to accept it in good faith,” Mr. Dwumfour said.
He, however, cautioned Prof. Asiedu against repeating such an incident, adding: “Go and sin no more.”

Prof. Asiedu had earlier apologised to the GJA, Obaatanpa FM and journalists across the country, admitting that as a leader he was not above the law.
He explained that his visit to the station was not intended to disrupt its programme but to engage management over concerns, while pledging to cooperate with investigations into the matter.

The Gomoa Central MP, Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus), who accompanied the Chairman, praised him for demonstrating humility and leadership by apologising publicly.
A Plus said the decision reflected the kind of accountability expected from leaders and reaffirmed the need for political actors to respect press freedom in Ghana.
