The Government of Ghana has repatriated the body of Bashiru Isak, the Ghanaian who was killed during the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
In a statement issued on July 16, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Mr. Isak’s body arrived in Ghana on July 14 and has been taken to the 37 Military Hospital.
The Ministry said an independent autopsy will be conducted after efforts to obtain an official autopsy report from South African authorities were unsuccessful.
The government also renewed its call for a swift investigation into the killing and urged South African authorities to arrest and prosecute those responsible.
It reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing justice for the deceased through diplomatic and legal channels.
