Ghanaian radio and television presenter, reggae singer, author and entrepreneur Ohemaa Woyeje has shared insights on dealing with criticism, false accusations and the importance of staying true to oneself.
Speaking on Atinka TV’s Club 99 entertainment show with Babiee Dappah, Ohemaa Woyeje advised people not to take every negative comment personally, noting that the behaviour of others often reflects their own struggles rather than the person they are attacking.
“How people relate to you might not be about you but what they are going through,” she said.
She also encouraged individuals to remain focused on their truth and not be distracted by unfounded opinions.
“What anybody says outside of your truth should not bother you,” she added.
Reflecting on one of the most painful experiences in her public life, Ohemaa Woyeje recalled being falsely accused by a blogger of having had abortions.
According to her, the allegation continued to follow her even after she got married, especially during the period when she and her husband had not yet had children.
“A blogger once accused me of having abortions. After a year of marriage without children, people still referenced that lie,” she recounted.
Despite the emotional impact of the false claim, the media personality said she has learned not to allow such comments to define her, explaining that some people deliberately make hurtful remarks simply to provoke a reaction.
“Some people just jab you to get your attention,” she said.
Ohemaa Woyeje’s remarks highlighted the emotional challenges public figures often face and underscored the importance of resilience, self-confidence and remaining grounded despite public criticism and misinformation.
