The Rector of Fanaka International University College, Prof. Samuel Agyei-Amponsah, has urged Ghanaians to make cybersecurity a top priority, stressing that individuals and organisations must take proactive steps to protect themselves against the growing threat of cybercrime.
Speaking in an interview on Atinka TV’s Ghana Nie morning show with Ekow Budu-Sam, Prof. Agyei-Amponsah said cybersecurity is no longer an issue for only technology experts but a shared responsibility for everyone in today’s digital world.
“Cybersecurity should be a top priority for everyone,” he stated, noting that increased awareness and safe online practices are essential to safeguarding personal and organisational information.
Touching on career development, Prof. Agyei-Amponsah advised job seekers to look beyond salaries when evaluating employment opportunities.
According to him, jobs that provide regular training and professional development are more valuable in the long term than those that offer attractive salaries without opportunities for growth.
“Jobs that offer regular capacity-building opportunities are far better than those that offer just salaries,” he said.
He explained that continuous learning equips employees with new skills, enhances career progression and improves their ability to adapt to changing workplace demands.
Prof. Agyei-Amponsah encouraged young professionals to embrace lifelong learning and prioritise personal development to remain competitive in an evolving job market.
