As part of measures to help farmers in the North East Region increase crop yields and reduce production costs, Yara Ghana has launched two new fertilizer products, Yara Winner Plus and Yara Legume, at reduced prices.
The products were unveiled at a ceremony in Walewale attended by farmers, agro-dealers, traditional leaders and agricultural stakeholders. Yara Winner Plus is designed for cereal crops such as maize, rice and sorghum, while Yara Legume is specially formulated for groundnuts, soybean and cowpea cultivation.
Speaking at the launch, the Country Director of Yara Ghana, Theresa Randolph, said the company remains committed to improving agricultural productivity by providing farmers with high-quality inputs at affordable prices.
She also called on stakeholders in the agriculture sector to develop innovative solutions to address climate change and protect Ghana’s food security.
A farmer from Gbimsi in the West Mamprusi Municipality, Francis Iddi Kojo, said Yara fertilizer products had significantly improved his harvest during the last farming season. He expressed confidence that the new products would help many more farmers increase their production and incomes.
The North East Regional Director of Agriculture, Edward Nasara, described the introduction of the new fertilizers as a major opportunity for farmers to improve yields through the use of quality inputs and good farming practices.
Farmers were encouraged to purchase the products only from certified Yara dealers across the region to ensure they receive genuine fertilizer.
