The Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, has described the establishment of a permanent office for the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in Dormaa Ahenkro as a major step towards improving access to essential public services in the municipality.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the new office complex, the chief expressed optimism that the facility would ease the burden on residents who have had to travel long distances to access the authority’s services.
According to him, the establishment of the office will significantly reduce transportation costs and eliminate the challenges residents in Dormaa Ahenkro and neighbouring communities encounter when seeking services from the authority.
Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II commended the Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA for facilitating the construction of the permanent office after a temporary office had been commissioned in the municipality a year earlier.
He also praised the Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboah, for his role in promoting development initiatives within the region. He mentioned the proposed 24-hour economy market and the new DVLA office among the projects aimed at improving the lives of residents.
The Dormaahene stressed that traditional leaders remain key partners in national development and assured the government of their continued support in efforts to improve the living conditions of the people.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, Julius Neequaye Kotey, expressed gratitude to the traditional authorities, particularly the Dormaahene, for donating land for the project without charge.
Mr. Kotey also acknowledged the support of the Bono Regional Minister, the Municipal Chief Executive and the Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central, Dr. John Kwame Adu Jack, whose contributions, he said, helped make the project possible.
For his part, the Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboah, said the government had undertaken several development projects across the country since assuming office.
He cited the Kyeremasu-Amasu-Gambia road project as one of the major interventions in the Bono Region, explaining that construction work had already commenced and was expected to be completed within the stipulated period.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating development and improving infrastructure across the region.
