The Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, has opened a four-day parliamentary modernization programme aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Parliamentary Service and improving legislative processes through technology and institutional reforms.
The programme, being held at the Parliamentary Training Institute (PTI), is designed to enhance the efficiency of Parliament by improving legislative drafting, records management, information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure, and staff capacity.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Djietror said the initiative forms part of efforts to modernise Parliament and equip its staff with the skills and tools needed to support effective law-making and institutional development.
According to him, strengthening these key areas will improve Parliament’s operational efficiency and contribute to the passage of quality legislation that supports Ghana’s national development agenda.
The programme is being organised in collaboration with the House Democracy Partnership (HDP), bringing together officials from the Parliament of Ghana and the U.S. House of Representatives to exchange knowledge and share best practices.
Participants will discuss ways to improve legislative workflows, strengthen digital systems, and explore the responsible use of artificial intelligence in parliamentary administration.
The collaboration is expected to provide practical insights into how modern technologies and institutional reforms can improve parliamentary operations while enhancing transparency and accountability.
Organisers say the four-day engagement will also deepen cooperation between the Parliament of Ghana and the U.S. House of Representatives, creating opportunities for continued knowledge sharing and institutional support.
The programme is expected to conclude with recommendations that will help advance Parliament’s modernization agenda and strengthen its ability to deliver efficient legislative services to the people of Ghana.
