Senior executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the North East Region have endorsed General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua for a second term, citing his organisational leadership and commitment to rebuilding the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The endorsement came during Kodua’s campaign tour of the region as he seeks re-election in the party’s internal polls.
The tour began in the Nalerigu/Gambaga Constituency, where Member of Parliament Mohammed Nurudeen welcomed the General Secretary and his campaign team before they met regional and constituency executives.
North East Regional Chairman Fuseini Nurideen praised Kodua for what he described as his dedication to the region during previous election campaigns, saying he had invested considerable time and effort in strengthening the party’s grassroots structures.
Nurideen said Kodua’s record in office justified a second mandate as the party works to regain power in the 2028 elections.
Regional Secretary Sulley Sambian told party delegates that although he had not supported Kodua during his first bid for General Secretary, his view had changed after working closely with him over the past term.
Sambian said Kodua had demonstrated administrative competence, accessibility and a commitment to institutional reforms that had strengthened the party’s organisational capacity.
He urged delegates to reward what he described as proven leadership by renewing Kodua’s mandate.
The campaign also took the General Secretary to other constituencies across the North East Region before concluding in Walewale, where party executives again pledged their support.
The endorsement adds to Kodua’s nationwide campaign as he seeks another term to lead the party’s administration while the NPP prepares for the 2028 general election after its defeat in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary polls.
