Lawyers for the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, have issued a legal notice demanding an immediate halt to what they describe as false and defamatory publications linking him to an alleged GH¢200 million theft involving a man identified as Dominic Bonsu.
The legal notice, dated Wednesday August 5, 2026, was issued by the solicitors for Mr. Gyamfi, who said they were acting on his express instructions following the circulation of what they described as malicious claims on both traditional and social media platforms.
According to the lawyers, the publications falsely allege that Dominic Bonsu is, or was, Mr. Gyamfi’s bodyguard and that he absconded with GH¢200 million belonging to the Ghana Gold Board.
The legal team categorically rejected the claims, describing them as “entirely false, malicious, reckless and devoid of any factual or legal basis.”
They have consequently directed all individuals, media organisations, bloggers, social media users and other entities to immediately cease publishing, republishing, circulating or transmitting the allegations in any form.
The notice warns that anyone who continues to disseminate the claims risks facing legal consequences.
“Our client expressly reserves his right to commence civil proceedings, without further notice, against every individual or entity responsible for the publication or republication of the defamatory material,” the statement said.
To reinforce its position, the legal team outlined what it described as the true facts surrounding the matter.
First, the lawyers stated that Mr. Gyamfi has never met, known, engaged or maintained any personal or professional relationship whatsoever with Dominic Bonsu.
Secondly, they insisted that Mr. Bonsu has never served as Mr. Gyamfi’s bodyguard, personal security officer, employee, agent, representative or associate.
The lawyers further dismissed the allegation that Dominic Bonsu absconded with GH¢200 million belonging to the Ghana Gold Board, insisting that the claim is fabricated, malicious and completely without factual or legal foundation.
According to the legal notice, the publications have the potential to damage Mr. Gyamfi’s reputation and mislead the public by creating a false impression about his relationship with the alleged suspect and the reported disappearance of funds.
The notice serves as a formal cease-and-desist order, placing all publishers and individuals on notice that any continued circulation of the allegations could expose them to civil litigation.
The development comes amid widespread discussions on social media over claims relating to the Ghana Gold Board, with Mr. Gyamfi’s lawyers maintaining that the allegations are baseless and should be withdrawn immediately.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no public response from the individuals responsible for circulating the allegations.
The legal notice does not indicate whether any lawsuits have already been filed but makes it clear that Mr. Gyamfi reserves the right to pursue legal action against anyone who continues to publish or republish the disputed claims.
