The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully contained two separate fire incidents recorded at North Kaneshie and Weija in the Greater Accra Region.
The incidents occurred on Monday, August 10, and Tuesday, August 11, 2026, with firefighters responding swiftly to prevent the fires from spreading to nearby homes.
At North Kaneshie, firefighters were called to a palm tree fire near Orgle Road.
The team quickly brought the fire under control and subsequently extinguished the flames, preventing them from spreading to the surrounding property.
Their intervention helped save the entire compound house from being affected by the fire.
A second incident occurred at Weija, where an electrical fire broke out and affected an ECG prepaid meter and electrical cables.
Firefighters responded to the incident and successfully contained the blaze before it could spread further into the building.
Although the fire destroyed the prepaid meter and damaged cables, the firefighters managed to salvage four bedrooms and prevent the fire from causing further damage to the property.
No casualties were recorded in either incident.
The GNFS said the causes of both fires remain under investigation.
The incidents highlight the importance of prompt reporting and rapid firefighting intervention, particularly in residential areas where fires can quickly spread and cause extensive damage to homes and property.
