A 27-year-old spiritualist has been arrested by residents of Lamptey in the Ga South Municipality near Kasoa over an alleged attempt to use an 11-year-old schoolgirl for ritual purposes.
The suspect, identified as C Prof, was reportedly seen entering an uncompleted building with the girl.
Residents became suspicious after the girl allegedly cried for help. They rushed to the scene, rescued the girl and apprehended the suspect.
A search of the suspect’s belongings allegedly led to the discovery of a bag containing what residents believe to be human bones.

The suspect, who is said to be living in the uncompleted building, was reportedly assaulted by some residents before being handed over to the police.
The 11-year-old girl has been rescued and is said to be safe.
Police have taken the suspect into custody as investigations continue to establish what happened and the source of the alleged human remains.
Some residents who spoke to the media called for a thorough investigation into the incident and urged authorities to ensure the safety of children in the community.
