The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to two separate road incidents in the Greater Accra Region on Saturday, August 22, 2026, involving a VIP Yutong bus at Fise and a MAN diesel trailer at McCarthy Hill.
At Fise, the Amasaman Fire Station crew was dispatched to an incident involving a VIP Yutong bus which had collided with a concrete barricade.
The impact resulted in a diesel leak and caused partial damage to the bus, including its bumper, side glass and side door.
Fire personnel took immediate steps to manage the diesel leak and secure the area to prevent further hazards. No casualties were recorded in the incident.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Later in the morning, the Weija Fire Station crew responded to a fire involving a MAN diesel trailer at McCarthy Hill.
The fire was already in progress when the crew arrived at the scene. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze, bringing it under control at 8:13 a.m. before fully extinguishing it at 9:01 a.m.
The fire extensively damaged the head section of the trailer, while the trailer section also suffered partial damage.
No casualties were recorded in the fire incident.
The GNFS said investigations are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding both incidents.
The two incidents highlight the need for motorists and road users to exercise caution, particularly around heavy-duty vehicles and areas where fuel leaks or other hazards could pose additional risks.
