The Board and Management of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) have engaged the local union in a bid to resolve outstanding issues surrounding salary adjustments and income tax gaps.
The engagement followed a meeting involving the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment Relations, Hon. Dr. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo; the Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Dr. George Smith Graham; NLA Board Chairman, Mr. Frederick Amissah; Director-General of the NLA, Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Salam; and executives of the local union led by the national executives of the Financial, Business and Services Employees Union (FBSEU).
According to the NLA, the meeting resulted in a consensus to resolve all outstanding issues between Management and the union.
Management further indicated that the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission is amenable to its initial proposal of a 12 percent salary increase, as opposed to the union’s proposal of 8 percent.
The Authority said Management, the union and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission would continue discussions to address the gaps arising from income tax computations.
Management has therefore appealed to all staff to remain calm and return to work while the outstanding matters are being resolved to ensure industrial harmony.
The NLA reaffirmed its commitment to its mandate of generating revenue for national development and providing moments of hope and excitement for its patrons.
