The United Star of Hope Education Complex in Dansoman, Accra, has marked its 10th anniversary with a colourful celebration and graduation ceremony attended by traditional leaders, pastors, parents, education stakeholders and members of the community.
The ceremony, held at the Gbegbeyise School Compound near Pentecost Church, Dansoman Lastop, brought together the school community to celebrate a decade of educational service and the achievements of its students.
The event, held under the theme “A decade of hope: Empowering young minds and enriching their potential for a brighter future,” featured a variety of performances and displays by students.
The students demonstrated their talents through choreography, cadet drills, poetry and other activities, earning applause from guests and parents.
Top Ghanaian musicians, including Philipa Baafi and Obochi, graced the occasion with outstanding performances.
The Mawerehene of Akyem Adadientam, Baafour Odefour Boamah Darko, commended the management of the school for its resilience and commitment to education. He recalled being around when the school was established and initially provided free education to people in the Dansoman-Glefe community.
According to him, the school later had to introduce modest fees to enable it to survive and continue providing educational services.
He appealed to corporate Ghana and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to support the institution to enable it to expand its operations and improve the quality of education it provides.
The chief also urged the management and parents to prioritise the welfare of teachers, stressing that teachers are key players in determining the success of every educational institution.
Outspoken Ghanaian pastor and the founder of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Rev. Nicholas Osei, well known as Rev. Kumchacha, urged parents to make the education of their children a priority. He encouraged parents to provide the necessary support and guidance to help their children achieve their educational goals.
The Proprietress of the United Star of Hope Education Complex, Deaconess Mrs. Helina Amoako, attributed the school’s 10-year journey to the grace of God, as well as the dedication and hard work of the school’s staff and management.
Mrs Amoako expressed appreciation to all stakeholders who had supported the school throughout the years. She pledged to continue working with her team to develop the institution and make it one of the best schools in the area.
The anniversary and graduation ceremony therefore served not only as a celebration of the school’s decade-long journey, but also as a call for greater collaboration among parents, educators, traditional leaders, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to support quality education in the community.
