The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Hon. Ewurabena Aubyn, has called on party faithful and stakeholders within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rally behind the party’s parliamentary candidate in the upcoming Akwatia by-election, Bernard Bediako, slated for next week.
Speaking at the “Time with the Media” engagement organized by the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, Hon. Aubyn emphasized the need for unity and collective action in ensuring victory for the NDC in Akwatia, following the passing of the late MP, Ernest Kumi.
“Akwatia is next. Let’s support them,” she urged, underscoring the importance of extending solidarity across constituencies during critical electoral moments.
The media event, spearheaded by Greater Accra Regional Minister Hon. Linda Akweley Ocloo, brought together Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) from across the region to provide updates on developments in their respective areas.
In her address, Hon. Aubyn expressed heartfelt gratitude to her colleagues and party structures for their support in the last general elections. She also acknowledged the collaborative efforts that have propelled the NDC forward in the region.
“MMDCEs present here or not, I want to say a big thank you for your joint collaboration and support. After the elections, I extended my gratitude through Queen of Kings and the Regional Minister. I also shared a piece on social media, recognizing it as a useful tool for communication,” she said.
She took a reconciliatory tone as she addressed the heightened political tensions typically associated with campaign seasons, calling for forgiveness where needed.
“If any of my executives, branch members, or supporters have offended anyone in any way—directly or indirectly—I humbly ask for your forgiveness. We are all politicians, and such moments come with their own tensions,” she noted.
Hon. Aubyn also lauded her Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), party chairmen and all supporters, including those from outside Accra, for their contributions to the NDC’s growth and electoral strength in the region.
