Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has urged politicians and party faithful to refrain from publicly criticising or undermining their political parties out of anger, frustration, or personal disappointment.
According to him, disagreements are a natural part of every political organisation, but such concerns should be addressed through established internal mechanisms rather than public attacks that could damage the party’s image and cohesion.
Speaking to party members in the Western North Region on the importance of unity and discipline within political parties, Afenyo-Markin stressed that publicly disparaging one’s own party weakens its prospects and provides political opponents with ammunition.
“Anger is no excuse to discredit your party,” he cautioned.
The Effutu MP encouraged party members to remain loyal while offering constructive criticism aimed at strengthening the organisation. He emphasised that mutual respect, dialogue, and adherence to internal processes are essential for resolving differences and promoting healthy democratic governance.
Afenyo-Markin further advised party faithful to place the collective interest of the party above personal grievances, noting that discipline, unity, and responsible conduct are critical ingredients for electoral success.
He reiterated that strong political parties are built on internal cohesion and the ability of members to resolve disputes constructively, rather than through public confrontations that could undermine public confidence in the party.
