After several weeks of rigorous training, tactical sessions, and fitness work, the senior national team left Cardiff, Wales, on Wednesday, June 3.
The squad is currently stationed in Providence, Rhode Island, where they will complete the final phase of their preparations before the start of the international spectacle, along with the technical team and officials.
Following the conclusion of Ghana’s European training camp on Monday, June 1, head coach Carlos Queiroz travelled with his final 26-man roster. To build team chemistry, refine tactics, and ensure the team is ready for the tournament, the Portuguese tactician has been working closely with the players.
The Black Stars ended their Cardiff training camp with a friendly against Wales on June 2 at Cardiff City Stadium.
Caleb Yirenkyi’s second-half goal put Ghana ahead, but a late strike from Lewis Koumas earned Wales a draw.
Even though the game ended poorly, Queiroz and his coaching staff learned a lot from it as they continue to evaluate the team and make last-minute changes before the World Cup.
On June 10, the Black Stars are scheduled to play one more warm-up game against Jamaica. Ghana’s last test before starting their World Cup campaign is anticipated to be this match.
Ghana hopes to have a big influence at the FIFA World Cup, where they will be competing for the fifth time. The four-time African champions have been placed in Group L, which is expected to be difficult and includes Panama, England, and Croatia.
On June 17, the Black Stars will play their first game of the season against Panama. On June 23, they will play England. On June 27, they will play Croatia in their last group-stage game.
