Energy Commission launches “certified refrigerator app” to locate certified appliances

The Energy Commission has introduced a mobile application, “certified refrigerator”, which will allow individuals to locate shops which have been certified by the commission to sell electrical appliances within 10 kilometers.

The certified refrigerator application which can be downloaded by smart phone users from the google playstore, will give users the names of certified shops as well as directions to the shop.

Speaking to Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on Atinka AM Drive, Chief Executive Officer for the Energy commission, Dr. Ofosu Ahenkora, explained that the application is in line with the Commission's quest to sanitize the  system.

According to Dr. Ofosu Ahenkora, the application will provide a more efficient and a safe way of purchasing electrical appliances.

“We noticed that even after the ban on the importation of second-hand refrigerators  and other  electrical appliances, people were still importing new fridges and electrical appliances which were not certified”

He called on the general public to patronize and make good use of the app. He also called on owners of electrical shops to register with the Energy Commission  in order to enroll on the certified refrigerator application.
