Create jobs before you fight tramadol menace – NPP stalwart to gov’t

A vociferous member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Assemblyman for the Halcrow Electoral Area in the Tema West Constituency, Kwasi Poku Bosompem, has implored the government to focus on creating more jobs for the teeming youth before waging war against Tramadol abuse.

Speaking at an AU Day event targeted at uniting the youth in Tema Community 3, the assemblyman said government appears to be doing little about its promise to provide jobs for the youth.  He said the situation is frustrating the youth who have consequently resorted to Tramadol and other illicit drugs.

He stressed that all job opportunities have been given to the "old boys" at the expense of the energetic youth. He said the unfortunate development is causing so much disappointment among the youth who are looking up to the NPP administration for jobs.

Mr. Bosompem also criticized the phenomenon of demanding many years of working experience before one is employed, saying to guarantee the future of Ghana, the current generation must be given the opportunity.

An executive member of the Tema Community Three Residents Association and the brain behind the event, Mrs. Juan Frances Addah, said the current immoral behaviors among the youth also hinge on the poor economic situation and the only way to get the youth back on track and restore hopes in them is through sporting activities.
