DJ Candyman takes over as new host of Atinka FM’s late afternoon drive 

 

Ghana should be ready to experience one of the best late afternoon drive time shows to ever hit the country as one of Ghana’s veteran DJs, born Alex Kwaku Amoah better known in radio as DJ Candyman will from henceforth be the host of Atinka FM’s late afternoon drive time show, “Akwaaba Drive”.

DJ Candyman takes over from Kofi Asare Brako A.K.A Abatay, who hitherto was the host of the late afternoon drive time, however, has been transferred to a sister station, Agyenkwa FM in Kumasi as General Manager. “Akwaaba Drive” will be on air from Mondays to Fridays at 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM with nothing to expect but the best.

The show will quake the radio airwaves as it has been the hallmark of Candyman to thrill listeners with the most authoritative interviews, captivating discussions, the best of music that could tame a restless lion and other intriguing contents that have always candied every moment with his listeners. 

For three and half years, DJ Candyman has been the host of Atinka FM’s after drive time and fans’ favorite “Akwaaba talk” which has featured several artistes like Medikal, Kofi Bee, Adina, Paa Kwesi of Dobble fame, Qwesi Oteng, D Cryme and other amazing acts on 104.7 MHz, Atinka FM.

It is worth mentioning that this year marks his 21 years of Disc Jockeying in radio. As the saying goes, “sharing is caring “, not only has Candyman kept the knowledge of Disc Jockeying to himself, it is to be appreciated that he has trained the likes of DJ Narcash, DJ Chifaro, G Cue, DJ Warren and a host of others.
 
For the past years, the unique, dynamic and undeniable excellence Disc Jockeying skill demonstrated by DJ Candyman has been felt at radio stations where he has worked which include: FOX FM, Hello FM, all in Kumasi as well as Rainbow Radio in Accra, having started radio work at Radio Lynk at the Kumasi Polytechnic. Atinka FM is currently having a share.

Candyman hasn’t exhibited such enchanting Disc Jockeying abilities at the radio stations he has worked only; night clubs such as Kiravi Night Club, Yegola, Café and Maserati have all had a fair share of his works. He’s also played alongside some of the nation’s finest DJs like Andy Dosty, DJ Turbo B, the late Franky Crocker among others.

Several noteworthy feats have been chalked by Candyman; he is a three-time Ghana DJ awards nominee and a one-time Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards nominee.

In his suggestion regarding the work he does, he says, “I will do this job until my last breath. This is what I love and this is what makes me happy and grooving my listeners into the mood is something I can’t trade for anything”.
