The Claim
Viral posts by accounts such as “Gen. Buhari” and comments by “Samuel Koku Anyidoho” on X (formerly Twitter) claim to show National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates in Nima, Ayawaso East, with a “bounty” of items allegedly received during the February 7, 2026, parliamentary primaries. The images show individuals standing with motorbikes, TV sets, bags of rice, and stacks of cash, with captions urging voters to demand similar items before voting.
These images have been virally shared by some social media activists including Gen. Buhari, politicians like Samuel Koku Sitsofe Anyidoho who serves as Founder and President of the Atta Mills Institute, Dennis Edward Aboagye also known as Dennis Miracles Aboagye and many others.
The Verdict: FAKE
TMG Research and Investigative Desk confirms that these images are fake and were created using Artificial Intelligence (AI). While the NDC has initiated internal investigations into reports of actual inducement during the primaries, the specific viral images circulating as “proof” are digital fabrications.
Our Investigation and Findings
Currency Anomalies
The most glaring evidence of fabrication is the currency shown in the images.
- Non-Ghanaian Features: The “GHS 200” notes depicted do not match the official currency issued by the Bank of Ghana.
- Incorrect Faces: The portraits on the notes in the viral image differ significantly from the “Big Six” featured on genuine Ghanaian Cedi banknotes.
- Security Failures: The notes lack the mandatory security features, such as the color-shifting “Except God” Adinkra symbol and the motion surface stripe found on real 200 Cedi notes.
Text and Spelling Errors (AI Hallucinations)
The AI generator failed to accurately replicate product labels, a common “hallucination” in synthetic media:
- “Sanisary Pad”: Several boxes in the background are labeled with the misspelling “Sanisary Pad” instead of the correct Sanitary Pad.
- “Cari”: Bags of what should be Gari (a Ghanaian staple) are labeled as “Cari.”
- Distorted Logos: The “Kivo” and “Bullet” logos on the displayed items show unnatural distortions and blending that do not exist on real-world packaging.
Advanced Forensic Verification
Independent forensic analysis by TMG Research subjected these images to Hive Moderation and Copyleaks, two globally recognized AI-detection platforms.
- 99.9% Probability: Both tools flagged the visuals as being 99.9% likely to be AI-generated.
- Visual Glitches: Our desk noted blurred fingers and hands that “melt” into the objects they are holding, a hallmark of current generative AI models.
While political discussions regarding the Ayawaso East primaries are ongoing, these specific images are malicious fabrications. They use AI to create a false visual narrative of grand-scale inducement that never occurred in the manner depicted.
