Hannah Bissiw descends on Peace Council over Bryan Acheampong

Dr Hannah Bissiw, National Women's Organiser, NDC

National Women’s organizer of the main opposition party in Ghana, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Hanna Louisa Bissiw has said it is hypocritical for Ghanaians and some organizations to call on the NDC to desist from responding to the threats from the ruling  NPP.

According to her,  the call is unfortunate and reckless because if there is any political party that needs to be called to order, then it’s President Akufo-Addo and His New Patriotic Party(NPP).

Her comment comes after the Chairman of the National Peace Council (NPC), Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi cautioned political leaders to be mindful of comments they make in public which tend to create tension thereby affecting the peace of the country.

The call made by the Chairman of the National Peace Council was after the Member of Parliament for Abetifi who doubles as the Agric Minister, Hon. Bryan Acheampong addressing party folks in Kwahu after a health walk on Saturday, April 8, said “NDC party will collapse. If the NDC dares to use threats, Violence, and foolishness in the 2024 election we will let them know we have the men. We will show them that we have the men. We have the men”

He added, “It will never happen that we the NPP will stand on a platform to hand over power to the NDC. It will never happen! We will make sure NPP remain in government at all cost”.

However, responding to the call by the National Peace Council in an exclusive interview on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Kaakiyre Ofori Ayim, Madam Hanna Bissiw said it was unfortunate that the Peace Council was shying away from calling President Akufo-Addo and his violent  NPP to order.

“In 2021, when President Akufo-Addo was speaking in Kumasi, he announced that HeNana Addo will ensure that he hands over power to an NPP President. Mr. Lord Commey, Director of Operations at the Presidency, repeated the same statement in 2022, and nothing was done to him. This explains what the “NPP” intends,” she said

“These are the people and institutions like the National Peace Council should be calling to order not the innocent NDC planning to win the elections to save Ghanaians from the current hardship,” angry Hanna Bissiw told Kaakiyre Ofori Ayim.

She said the NDC is ready to enter into the 2024 elections with peace but should they be threatened by NPP, they will also respond accordingly.
