Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has lost his uncle to the novel coronavirus.Taking to his Twitter handle to raise concerns about the severity of the pandemic and how Ghanaians must adhere to the lockdown directives, Mr. Anyidoho disclosed how his uncle died.
According to him, his uncle, based in the United Kingdom died in a hospital in London after battling COVID-19 for a while.
He, therefore, advised Ghanaians to depoliticise the fight against the virus and work collectively halt the spread of the virus before we live to regret it.
“I’ve chosen not to play politics with COVID-19 because the World is not playing politics with it. Also from a very personal level, an uncle of mine has lost his life in London to it. Let us not play politics with it lest we live to regret. Blessed Easter Sunday to one and all,” his tweet read.
The UK has recorded over 10,000 deaths as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In Ghana, 556 cases of the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in the country with 8 deaths and 4 recoveries. 10 out of the 16 regions have been affected with the epicentre being the Greater Accra Region with 452 cases.
