Residents, traders, drivers, and passengers in the Kwahu Afram Plains area are calling on government to urgently fix the faulty ferry operating on the Afram River.
According to residents, transportation between Adawso and Ekye Amanfrom in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District has become very difficult due to frequent breakdowns of the ferry.
They explained that the original ferry developed a fault nearly a year ago, forcing authorities to introduce another ferry to help ease movement across the river.
However, the replacement ferry has also reportedly developed faults, affecting transportation and business activities in the area.
Speaking to Atinka News Correspondent Yaa Yeboah Boamah, some passengers, traders, and drivers described the situation as frustrating and dangerous.

They appealed to government to quickly repair the ferry engine to restore safe and smooth transportation on the river.
Meanwhile, investigations reveal that government is considering the construction of a bridge over the Afram River and has started feasibility studies for the project.
Despite the plans, residents say the bridge may take years to complete and are therefore calling for immediate repairs to the ferry to reduce their suffering in the meantime.
