UN disassociates itself from 'Blueprint Global Challenge Awards'

The United Nations (UN) has dissociated itself from the Blueprint Global Challenge Awards purported to be associated with the United Nations and the Kofi Annan Foundation.

“The United Nations in Ghana wishes to state categorically that the United Nations (neither in Ghana or anywhere else) has no affiliation with the Blueprint Global Challenge Awards, nor with the organization (Blueprint Mission) or its personnel in any way, shape or form,” the UN stated.

The Blueprint Global Challenge Awards, which was organised by one Dr Owusu Fordjour, popularly known as Dr UN, awarded high profile personalities, media personalities, business men and musicians including Sarkodie, D Black, Nathaniel Attoh, Berla Mundi, Ebenezer Madagu, Kojo Safo Junior, Captain Smart, Vincent Ekow Assafuah amonsgt others.

For those who could not attend the awards ceremony, which was held Alisa on August 28, 2020, the organiser went to their offices to present it to them.

While some were given citation and coated bottles, some received coated horses with others receiving coated plates.

The awards, which turned out to be fake was quickly exposed on social media after awardees posted their plaques.

Research revealed that the organiser of the award had no affiliation with the UN or the Kofi Annan Foundation as he claimed.

Meanwhile, the UN has stated that all genuine UN notices follow strict rules and procedures and are announced/published on UN websites.

“We advise the general public to access genuine information by visiting the relevant UN agencies’ websites or the UN Ghana website (https://ghana.un.org/en),” the UN stated.

It also added that, “The UN in Ghana remains committed to working with the Government of Ghana and its people to deliver on its mandate to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and support Ghana attain its development objectives.”
