Madina MCE Reaffirms Unity and Inclusion with Eid Donation to Muslims

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Madina, Hon. Ibrahim Fuseini Faila, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to religious inclusiveness, peace, and community support following the donation of 10 cows to the Muslim community ahead of Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.

Speaking to the media during the presentation ceremony in the Madina Municipality, the MCE said the gesture was inspired by the Islamic values of sacrifice, generosity, and compassion, while also reflecting the leadership vision of President John Dramani Mahama.

According to Hon. Fuseini, the donation was not only meant to support Muslim families during the festive season, but also to strengthen unity and social harmony within the community.
“We are answering the call of Almighty Allah and also carrying out the vision of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama,” he stated.
“You know how compassionate, accommodative and resilient he is when it comes to all religions.

At a moment like this, as Muslims celebrate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Muhammad, it is important that we remember where we are coming from and the responsibility entrusted to us.”
He explained that the government’s approach to leadership is rooted in ensuring that every religious and social group feels represented and supported.

“By his nature, the President has given us the mandate to carry everyone along within the community, and that is exactly what we are doing today,” he added.
Hon. Fuseini disclosed that although 10 calves had already been donated, discussions were ongoing with the area Member of Parliament to secure additional support due to the growing number of beneficiaries.

“We have donated about 10 calves, but we are still exploring other possibilities,” he noted. “The MP and I have been discussing how we can put our heads together to extend support because there are more people who need to be considered.”

The MCE emphasized that Eid-ul-Adha is not only a period of celebration but also a sacred time of charity and sharing among Muslims.
“As Muslims, this is a time of giving,” he said. “The scriptures teach that whatever animal is slaughtered — whether a cow, sheep, goat, or camel — should be divided into three parts.

One part is kept for the family, while the remaining portions are shared with those who may not have the means to sacrifice an animal themselves.”
He further described the act of sacrifice during Eid as a spiritual obligation ordained by Allah.
“That giving is not merely from human beings; it is a sacrifice commanded by Almighty Allah,” he explained. “That is why the President directed that we support our Muslim brothers and sisters, as well as chiefs and imams during this sacred period.”

Beyond the donation, Hon. Fuseini used the occasion to call on the youth to embrace peace, self-discipline, and the teachings of Islam, especially during the festive season.
“Let us be mindful so that we are not used as tools for vandalism or wrongdoing,” he urged. “This is a time for reflection and a time for us to come together and appreciate the good we have.”

He encouraged young people to turn away from negative behaviours and instead focus on becoming responsible members of society.
“The bad habits we know we are engaged in must be left behind,” he said. “This is the time to reflect upon ourselves and understand the importance of Islamic teachings.

That is why we are here today — to counsel our young ones and encourage our brothers and sisters to emulate the teachings of Prophet Muhammad so that we can all become better people in the future.”
The donation was warmly received by members of the Muslim community, many of whom described the gesture as timely and meaningful ahead of the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.
