Ambulances fully resourced for use – Ambulance Service

Head of Operations at the National Ambulance Service, Mr. Foster Ansong, says the 307 ambulances have been well resourced and are ready to be disbursed.
The 307 ambulances, which were  scheduled to be disbursed to the 275 constituencies Today, January 6, 2020 could not come  on  due to a number of issues. Labeling, training of staff and paramedics were some of the reasons for the delay in the commissioning and subsequent disbursement of the ambulances.
Speaking in an interview with host of Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Head of Operations at the National Ambulance Service, Foster Ansong, noted that the commissioning and distribution of 307 Ambulances to all the 275 constituencies nationwide, tomorrow January 28th 2020, forms part of efforts to improve emergency healthcare delivery in Ghana.
According to Mr. Foster Ansong, over 300 EMT drivers, support staff and 30 dispatchers will be posted to the 275 constituencies nationwide after the commissioning.
He added that all the necessary measures and user-training techniques needed for the efficient use of the ambulances have been completed hence the commissioning and subsequent disbursement.
“The digitized ICT system, tracking devices and labeling have been fixed on the Ambulances and ready for distribution. This will go a long way to augment government’s healthcare delivery,” he added.
Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Information Minister, who announced the commissioning and subsequent disbursement of the Ambulances earlier in a press briefing in Accra on Sunday, said the Ghana Ambulance Service has signed a five-year Service and Maintenance Agreement with the Suppliers to ensure servicing and maintenance of the Ambulances.
He added that the move by government falls under the Ministry of Special Development Initiative “One Constituency, One Ambulance” project.
