Security analyst Adib Sani, has opined that the NPP government is disrespecting Ghanaians amidst the economic hardship.
According to him, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo disrespected Ghanaians while addressing the people on the current economic challenges recently.
Addressing Ghanaians on the current state of the economy, President Akufo Addo was of the view that the negative speculation about the cedi has an attendant effect on how the forex market reacts.
You may recall that Government communicators over the past few weeks partly blamed the fast-depreciating local currency on speculations.
The president said such conversations were pointless at a time when the government was struggling to restore confidence in an economy in crisis.
“Fellow Ghanaians, as the French would say, l’argent n’aime pas le bruit, to wit, money does not like noise, sika mmpɛ dede. Where there is chaos, where there is noise, where there is unrest, you will not find money. If you talk down your money, it will go down. If you allow some unidentifiable person to talk down your money, it will go down,” he said in his address.
This amongst others, triggered some youth to go on a demonstration against the Government last Saturday.
Hundreds of Ghanaians, on Saturday, November 5, 2022 took to the streets in the capital, Accra, to register their displeasure over the current economic hardship in the country.
The protesters, who wore red and black, marched through some principal streets chanting patriotic songs amidst calls for the resignation of top government officials for what they described as ”nonperformance”.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Adib Sani, complained of the mismanagement of the economy, food inflation, and cost of living, among others.
He said what was more annoying was the seeming disrespect by the NPP government and the president, especially while addressing the nation on the economy.
He noted that per reports according to the World Bank, God has the most expensive foods, despite the Planting for Food and Jobs Programme.
“What is annoying over everything is the seaming disrespect. You are hurting the people at the same time you are disrespecting them and a lot of Ghanaians are really angry,” he said.
He continued, “We are suffering, you cannot deny the fact, and we say address the people and re-assure them.” Before the address, I had cautious optimism, even though I was cautious that something good would be said to reduce the tension and the suffering, then he said ‘Sika Mp3 dede’, it was an insult to the conscience of every Ghanaian. “It was an insult.”
Meanwhile, Adib Sani, also said the comments by Gabby Otchere-Darko are an insult to Ghanaians, adding that all these are making the people angry by the day.
He said although the President listed a number of initiatives to address the current economic challenges of the country, he did not state how he was going to achieve that.
He also said that at the beginning, the government painted a very good picture about the economy, knowing very well that most of the figures were actually cooked.
However, he said if the president had said something that had substance, they wouldn’t have demonstrated against the government.
