NPP primaries: Anyaa Sowutoum needs a strong leader- Emmanuel Tobbin

One of the aspiring Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutoum Constituency, Elder Emmanuel Tobbin, has revealed that the constituency needs a strong leader that will maintain a united front ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Nana Yaw Fianko, Mr. Tobbin noted tht having stayed in the constituency for the past 30 years, his commitment to serve the members of the Constituency is unalloyed.

He argued that the era where Parliamentarians expect to be served by their constituents is a thing of the past.

The Ascot Pharmacy CEO was emphatic that he is not perturbed by contesting the seat with the incumbent MP, Dr. Adomaku Kissi, as he believes he can do better when given the nod.

Mr. Tobbin said lobbying the right authorities to fix the bad roads in the Constituency continues to remain his topmost priority.

“I believe that although the incumbent MP has done what he could, I belive that I can do better. The roads in Anyaa Sowutuom are very bad and lobbying the right authorities to fix the bad roads in the Constituency continues to remain my topmost priority. Usually we say that MP’s do not construct roads but we tend to forget that lobbying is a skill that when nurtured well can bring positive results,” Elder Emmanuel Tobbin told Nana Yaw Fianko.

Delegates of the governing New Patriotic Party will go to the polls on January 27, 2024, to select parliamentary candidates to represent the party in various constituencies ahead of the general elections in December.

The party has already selected parliamentary candidates in constituencies where it does not have sitting MPs, known in political parlance as orphan constituencies.

While 326 candidates have been cleared for the primaries, a number of sitting MPs are contesting the polls unopposed.
