The Osu-Wem Family of Prampram has strongly denied reports claiming that it has filed a lawsuit against the Ghana Police Service, the Katamanso Police Commander, Olivia Turkson, and D/Sgt. David Annor.
According to the family head, Joseph Akishinor Adumua-Bosman, no legal action has been authorized or initiated by the recognized leadership of the family.
The family described circulating reports and alleged court documents as false, misleading, and malicious.
Responding to media publications alleging that the family had dragged the Katamanso Police Commander to court over claims that D/Sgt. Annor demanded GH¢2,000 as a condition for bail, Dr. Adumua-Bosman stated that the allegations were fabricated and did not reflect the position of the family.
He further insisted that there is no internal dispute involving the Ghana Police Service and emphasized that the Osu-Wem Family maintains a peaceful and cordial relationship with the Prampram and Katamanso police commands.
According to him, individuals making claims about the lawsuit are not acting on behalf of the family.
In a statement signed by family leaders, including Tetteh Odjadam V, Odjadam III, and Humphrey Akwetey, the family also distanced itself from individuals named in the purported writ.
The statement said the persons identified as plaintiffs — Nelson Martey, Alexander Narh Nortey, and Ebenezer Nuertey Akwetey — are not legitimate representatives of the Osu-Wem traditional family.
Family Clarifies Position
The family outlined several points to clarify its stance:
It has not sued the Ghana Police Service or any police officer.The alleged legal documents do not represent the family’s official position.
- The individuals behind the reported suit are acting independently and without authorization.
- The family maintains a professional and respectful relationship with the Katamanso Police Command.
The Osu-Wem Family further alleged that the reports were part of attempts by external individuals to create tension and damage relations between the family and the police service.
The family has therefore urged the public, media organizations, and relevant institutions to disregard what it describes as false and provocative allegations.
