The Chief Executive officer for the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers Ghana (COPEC), Duncan Amoah, says he was offered a GHC20,000 bribe in the recent controversy surrounding the sale of adulterated fuel by the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST).
The Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) reportedly sold off 12 million liters of contaminated fuel in 2017.
The concern was made public after confirmation that five million liters of the contaminated fuel was sold off by BOST to two unlicensed companies – Zup Oil and Movenpiina. The fuel is reportedly useful for some 'operational purposes'.
Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive Friday, Duncan Amoah, explained that BOST has "been beating over the bush" and accusing COPEC wrongfully ever since the issue came to the public domain.
According to Duncan Amoah, COPEC does not rely on funds from any organization or political parties for assistance. He added that COPEC will continue to hold BOST and other state agencies that deal with energy accountable.
“We have no time to pick on BOST, let me put it on record that I was offered 20,000 cedis over the issue but I rejected it. I have been offered various forms of bribes and I have rejected. Integrity is paramount,” he stated.
