Opuni's trial is 'calculated political persecution – Kofi Adams

The National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has assured the party’s outmost support for Dr Stephen Kwabena Opuni, a former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana COCOBOD.

The state has filed a case of financial loss against Dr Stephen Kwabena Opuni, a former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana COCOBOD with one Seidu Agongo.

A total of 27 charges have been levelled against them. The case will be called on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the High Court.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, The National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams stated that although the NDC believes that there are no alternatives to the judicial arbitration process, they still have the right to comment on cases where they feel the subjects have not been treated fairly.

According to him, Dr Stephen Kwabena Opuni would not have been hauled to court if Ghanaians will be be truthful to themselves.

“This is part of a calculated political persecution of former appointees to justify allegations of corruption. But we know Dr. Opuni will go and come out stronger. We will however follow the case to ensure that it is devoid of political instincts and that justice prevails”, he added.
