Tema: NPP parliamentary aspirant promises jobs and unity

A former parliamentary aspirant for the New Patriotic Party in the Tema East Constituency, Dr Benjamin Ashittey, who is again contesting the Member of Parliament for the area, Titus Glover, in this year’s primaries, has vowed to unseat the incumbent.
Promising job and development to the people of Tema, Dr Benjamin Ashittey, was also  optimistic of uniting the party’s front which has been divided for years.

With the 25th of April fast approaching for the ruling New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary primaries, stakes are high in the Tema East Constituency of the Tema Region where the incumbent and deputy Transport Minister Titus Glover, is being challenged by his closest  contender in last term primaries, Benjamin Ashittey.
Even though the incumbent managed to pull through the last time with a slim margin, political analysts are of the view that Dr Benjamin Ashittey can cause a major upset this time around.
And this was evident when the latter stormed the Tema East Constituency NPP office to submit his nomination forms. In the company of several party delegates and supporters, the businessman managed to file his nomination to the satisfaction of party executives present.
Receiving the nomination form, the constituency Secretary of the party Nene Sakite, entreated the camps of both the incumbent and his contender to engage in decent politicking, warning  that anyone who goes contrary to the party’s rules will face sanctions.
On his chances of winning the parliamentary primaries come April 25th, Dr Benjamin Ashittey, said the failure of the incumbent to deliver on his campaign promises and the call for change by the masses gives him that assurance.
He is therefore promising jobs, development and unity in the party. He said he will pit in place structures to ensure party delegates are not treated as voting machines, whereby their services will be needed during party primaries and congresses.
Dr Benjamin Ashittey asserted that, considering his performance in the last primaries, and the fact that the people of Tema East are clamoring for change, he’s convinced on unseating the incumbent come 25th April.
