Buduburam: Residents call for closure of Hospital morgue over 'unbearable' stench

Residents of Gomoa Budumburam (Liberian Camp) in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, have appealed to the government to close down St. Gregory  Catholic Hospital over stench emanating from the hospital’s morgue.

Residents who spoke to Atinkaonline stated that the odour is as a result of corpses not being well preserved at the morgue.

"The odour is killing us and we cannot do anything here and we have children here,” one resident said.

Residents living around the hospital, who are largely Liberians, revealed that the stench reminds them of the of Liberia war.

However, in an interview with Atinka FM’s Central Regional Correspondent, Gaisie Jackson, the administrator of St. Gregory Catholic Hospital, Mr. Ayegre Mathias Anaba, attributed the stench to the human waste thrown into the Hospital’s compound by the residents.

According to Mr. Mathias Anaba, the hospital authorities and personnel from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have embarked on numerous search to find out the cause of the stench but to no avail.

Mr. Anaba added that the hospital is abiding by the standards of the Ministry of Health and as such observing good health practices.
