Two Arrested for Possession of Suspected Narcotics in Ayi Mensah

The Ghana Police Service has arrested two men for possession of a large quantity of suspected narcotic substances in the Ayi Mensah area of the Greater Accra Region.

The two suspects, identified as Mathew Narkotey and Augustine Teye, were apprehended on the 7th of June, 2025, during a routine patrol by a team from the National Operations Department (NOD).

The suspects were driving a Mazda pick-up truck with registration number GT 3490-P when police officials conducted a search and uncovered 11 large, compressed sacks of what is believed to be narcotics.

The vehicle, along with the suspected narcotic substances, has been impounded and secured at the Joint Operations Centre for further investigation.

Both Narkotey and Teye are currently in police custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation. Authorities are also actively searching for a third individual, identified only as Martey, who the suspects named as the intended recipient of the consignment.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that they are working diligently to crack down on drug-related activities and are taking all necessary steps to bring those involved in the illegal trade to justice.

Police officials have urged anyone with information regarding this case to come forward and assist with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
