Two Women Arrested with 1,650 Slabs of Indian Hemp at Nkawkaw Ampekrom

The Eastern North Regional Police Command has arrested two women in connection with a large consignment of suspected Indian hemp found at Nkawkaw Ampekrom.

The suspects — 40-year-old landlady Hawa Ibrahim and 30-year-old Latifa Adams — were picked up during an intelligence-led operation by the police, which led to the discovery of 1,650 slabs of suspected narcotics hidden in a house.

According to a statement from the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Isaac Kwadwo Asante, the operation was based on a tip-off. 

Police officers raided the residence of Hawa Ibrahim and retrieved 24 maxi sacks filled with the suspected illegal substances.

Both suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court soon.

DCOP Asante assured the public of the police’s continued commitment to fighting drug-related crime in the region.
