Some Kumawood producers have explained why they eliminated Ghanaian Actor, Agya Koo from most of the movies a few years ago.
According to them, they did that because Agya Koo at the time seemed to be the only Actor on the screens.
One of the producers, Ola Michael on a sister station explained that the idea of Agya Koo’s elimination was to train and raise other actors to take over in case Agya Koo was tired or out of the movie industry.
Ola stated,”We plotted to eliminate Agya koo because we didn’t understand the fact that he was the only person circulating in Ghana’s movie industry. It got to a point it was unpleasant and there was only one person who could shoot a movie in Ghana. We didnt want to look on unconcerned for that to continue.
“The whole idea was we decided to train and raise other people in addition to taking over if Agya Koo got tired. That idea has really helped as it paved the way for actors like Kwadwo Nkansah Lil wayne and Akrobeto. To be sincere, they are at the top of the film industry now,” he said.
Again, OLa clarified that producers and directors did not reject Agya koo working with them, but that Agya Koo chose few directors and producers to work with them, despite the fact that there were many more upcoming directors and producers than those he chose. These aspiring directors collaborated with Kwadwo Nkansah Lil wayne and Akrobeto because they were the only individuals with whom they had the opportunity to work. This was the error that brought Agya koo down.
Again, he stated that a producer will send Agya koo a script to act in, but Agya koo will refuse to work with the Director and instead recommend his own director to the producer. If the producer is unable to work with him, they assign the script role to a different individual.
