Parents, caregivers, and guardians have been encouraged to include milk in the meals and beverages they provide for their children to support healthy growth and development.
The call was made during a large-scale nutrition and wellness campaign organised by Promasidor Ghana in the Ashanti Region as part of activities marking World Milk Day 2026.
The outreach programme, which also coincided with the 27th anniversary of the Cowbell brand in Ghana, benefited more than 10,000 schoolchildren through health screenings, nutrition education, and the provision of nutritious breakfast meals.
The initiative reached selected school clusters, including T.I. Ahmadiyya Basic School, Afaus Lovely School, and Best Brain International, as part of efforts to address childhood malnutrition and promote healthier lifestyles among children and their families.
Healthcare professionals conducted comprehensive health assessments before and after the event while educating participants on healthy dietary practices and the importance of balanced nutrition.
Speaking at the programme, Nurse Eric Osei Asenso of Asafo Boakye Specialist Hospital in Kumasi highlighted the critical role milk plays in supporting children’s physical growth, cognitive development, energy levels, and immune health.
He urged parents and guardians to ensure that milk forms a regular part of their children’s diets to help prevent nutritional deficiencies and promote overall well-being.
Brand Executive at Promasidor Ghana, Linda Akua Penni, explained that this year’s celebration was aligned with the global World Milk Day 2026 theme, which recognises the significant contribution of women to dairy production and family nutrition.
According to her, the initiative forms part of Promasidor Ghana’s broader commitment to improving community health and supporting child nutrition across the country.
She noted that the programme also contributes to key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and SDG 4 (Quality Education).
The company reaffirmed its commitment to promoting healthy nutrition practices and supporting the development of children through sustained community outreach and educational programmes.
