This would be the third test after the Axim Government Hospital also conducted a test on the missing but found woman and indicated that she was not pregnant.

Josephine Panyin Mensah, 28, went for a walk at dawn on that fateful day but never returned home. Her husband, Michael Simmons later lodged a formal complaint with the police.

However, she was found on Tuesday September 21, at Axim without the baby and was immediately sent to the Axim Government Hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the pregnant woman was unable to speak as a result of the trauma she went through.

But a police report has challenged the woman’s status as being pregnant before her disappearance.

The Police in Takoradi in the Western Region which confirmed the reappearance of Josephine Panyin Mensah said that when she reappeared, she was immediately sent to the Axim Government Hospital for medical attention, aside informing her family about it.

It also stated that since the disappearance of the woman in question, over 40 Police officers were specifically assigned to track the whereabouts of the victim and the family were given regular updates on Police operations regarding the issue.

“Following her reappearance and on the basis of our preliminary investigations so far, the Police wishes to state the following: The police is heavily relying on medical experts who have examined her. Their findings are that Josephine Panyin Mensah was never pregnant within the period under review following thorough medical examination by the medical doctors at the Axim Government Hospital.”

Despite these reports, the family and the neighbours of the woman in question insisted that she was pregnant with some of the residents throwing jabs and invoking curses on the Ghana Police Service for challenging Josephine’s pregnancy status.

As sighted on Myjoyonline.com, ACP Kwesi Ofori in an interview said that a thorough investigation is being carried out to attain the motives of the suspects who orchestrated the incident.

“The detailed result has been submitted to the Regional Criminal Investigation Department,” he said.

Meanwhile, Josephine’s mother, husband, and one other person have been arrested as accomplices in the alleged self-kidnapping case.
