A fatal accident on the Bolgatanga-Walewale highway has claimed the lives of eight individuals and left several others injured. The tragic incident occurred on Friday, February 28, 2025, near the farming community of Karimenga.
According to eyewitness reports, a bus traveling from Kumasi to Bolgatanga crashed into a parked container truck, resulting in an impact that led to the immediate deaths of eight passengers. Several others sustained critical injuries.
Local residents and officers from the Ghana National Fire Service quickly responded to the emergency, working to rescue those trapped in the wreckage. Five passengers had to be extricated from the mangled bus, while three severed legs were discovered at the scene.
The injured were rushed to the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga for urgent medical attention. The incident has left the community in mourning and raised fresh concerns over road safety measures on major highways.
Authorities have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash and prevent future occurrences.
