The New Juaben North Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has engaged personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service in the Eastern region as part of activities marking its constitutional week.
The Commission seeks to visit other security agencies and schools to educate them on the constitution and the role of the citizens.
Interacting with personnel from the Fire Service, the Municipal Director of NCCE for New Juaben North, Ebenezer Acheampong cautioned personnel to eschew partisan politics in their line of duty but place the country’s peace ahead their personal interests.
He also charged the personnel to ensure peace and cohesion is maintained before, during and after the general elections.
The interaction with security agencies, among other things, was to discuss their contributions towards constitutional democracy as a country and their role of ensuring peace and coh0esion is maintained in the country before, during and after the 2024 general elections.
It affords the personnel to ask questions pertaining to constitution their civil duty and the role of the citizens.
Ebenezer Acheampong, the New Juaben North Municipal Director of NCCE, reminded the personnel of the likelihood of violence in the upcoming 2024 general elections and there could be spillover and that is why they must be on the lookout for such activities especially considering what’s happening in neighbouring countries.
He cautioned them to be guided on the need to protect and maintain the peace and unity in the country especially before, during and after the general elections processes.
The Deputy Commanding Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service in the Eastern, DOI Peter Tetteh, acknowledged the role of the NCCE in enlightening the citizens of their responsibility as well as reminding the Fire Personnel on their role especially during the elections.
He also emphasized the need for the security personnel to be neutral during the election’s era.
