Another VIP crash on Kumasi-Obuasi highway claims 13 lives

Reports reaching Atinkaonline.com is that 13 persons on board a VIP Bus have lost their lives through a gory accident on the dawn of Monday, October 14,2024 on the Kumasi-Obuasi Highway.

According to reports, the accident involved a VIP bus which is said to have been moving from Kumasi to Enchi in the Western North Region.

Reports say the VIP bus veered off the main road and entered into a ditch near Kwapia, a town close to Obuasi.

The Police, confirming the news stated that seven men, five women and a child lost their lives through the accident, adding that apart from the driver, Osei Adu, all deceased persons died instantly.

Per an eyewitness account, the VIP bus was overloaded after picking extra passengers from a faulty bus.

He suspected that a confrontation by passengers over the overloading confused and distracted the driver and therefore landed him in the ditch.

Meanwhile, those who were injured through the accident are said to be receiving treatment in nearby hospitals while the bodies of the deceased have been sent to the morgue for autopsy.

The police have also launched an investigation into the matter .

The incident has thrown the families of the deceased into a state of shock and sorrow.

The Accident involving VIP buses have become one to many within a very short time.

Aside from this very one, over the weekend, a crash involving a VIP bus and a Sprinter bus on Atwedie on the Accra-Kumasi road claimed six.

Few weeks ago, a crash involving a VIP bus and a tanker driver also claimed about seven lives.

With these accidents, a section of Ghanaians have also called on the Management of VIP to train drivers to limit their speed and be more vigilant while carrying passengers.
