US Embassy opens newest EducationUSA Advising Centre at Osu

The U.S Embassy has opened its newest EducationUSA advising center at Osu in Accra.

The EducationUSA is a U.S. Government sponsored network of 450 centers in 170 countries around the globe, mandated to provide comprehensive, current, accurate and impartial information on U.S. higher education.

EducationUSA guides qualified individuals to be successful applicants to U.S. colleges and universities.

Currently, there are two advising Centers in Ghana located in Accra at the newest ACE Consult location in Osu, and at ACE Consult in Asokwa-Kumasi.

EducationUSA Advisors work with students individually and in groups, in-person and virtually to enhance understanding of the college or university application process to be successful applicants.

Over the last year, EducationUSA advisors from the Accra and Kumasi based centers have helped thousands of Ghanaian students apply to admissions across hundreds of accredited institutions of higher learning.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the EducationUSA advising center, the U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer made it known that in 2023, 6,468 studied in the United States while 9,394 Ghanaian students are studying in the US this year.

She also noted that from 2021 to 22, 697 American students studied in Ghana while 1,444 of them also studied in Ghana from 2022to 23.

She also mentioned the long standing relationship between Ghana and the USA, noting that the bond between these two countries was beautiful.

Meanwhile, she stated that the EducationUSA is free, encouraging Ghanaian students to take advantage of it.

The Chief Director of the Ministry of Education Mrs. Maamle Andrews who represented the Education Minister shared the excitement of the ministry about the opportunity given to Ghanaian students
to further their education in the USA.

She assured that the Ministry will continue to partner with the US Embassy to deepen the relationship between the two.

For his part, the Osu Mantse, HRM Notse Nii Nortey Owuo IV, who also had his education in the USA was of the belief that Ghanaian students who have their education in the USA will excel and come back to make positive impacts in Ghana.
