The Member of Parliament for Asene-Akroso-Manso and Ranking Member on Parliament’s Select Committee on Energy, Hon. George Kwame Aboagye, has assured the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of his unflinching support for whichever candidate emerges as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with Ekow Budu-Sam, Hon. Aboagye emphasized the need for unity within the party, especially as it gears up for its crucial presidential primaries scheduled for January 2026.
With anticipation already building across the party’s grassroots and leadership structures, several prominent figures have begun to signal their interest in contesting the flagbearer slot.
Among them are the 2024 Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Former MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Former Agric Minister Bryan Acheampong, Former Education Minister, Hon. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
Hon. Aboagye, who is known for his moderate and unifying stance within the party, stressed that internal cohesion and discipline ahead of the primaries would be critical to ensuring the NPP remains a strong contender in 2028.
As the January 2026 primaries draw closer, party faithful across the country are preparing for what is expected to be a spirited but pivotal contest—one that could define the NPP’s direction and identity for the next electoral cycle.
