Former Ghana Football Association Vice President, George Kwasi Afriyie, has questioned attempts to pave the way for a third term for GFA President Kurt Okraku.
Speaking on Atinka TV’s Kick Off show, Mr. Afriyie said the Normalization Committee, which was established to reform Ghana football when the GFA was not functioning properly, aligned the association’s statutes with the Constitution of Ghana.
According to George Kwasi Afriyie, although the GFA’s previous statutes allowed a president to serve a third term, the Normalization Committee introduced reforms that resulted in a two-term limit.
He explained that the decision was taken through the normalization process and subsequently approved through voting.
The former GFA Vice President was speaking amid discussions over Kurt Okraku’s bid to continue as president of the Ghana Football Association.
He maintains that the two-term principle must be respected, arguing that any change to the tenure system should not be interpreted as a provision created specifically to affect the current GFA president.
