Staff of fabrics and prints company, GTP are calling for the removal of their Managing Director, Fatumata Duru for alleged mismanagement of company resources.
They are also calling for her dismissal for failing to sit down with appropriate unions to discuss matters that are of concern to workers and the company as a whole.
The staff made the call when they embarked on a peaceful demonstration at the company at Tema on Thursday, February 24, 2022.
They are said to have attended work but did not perform any job expected of them.

Speaking on Atinka TV‘s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu, a staff of GTP, who was part of the demonstrators, Harriet Okeni Gyata explained that when the new MD was employed last year, they all welcomed her and was working with her peacefully until she started implementing some initiatives which did not go well with the workers and also the company.
According to her, although the staff were made to understand that there was no money in the company’s coffers, the MD sacked about seven directors and employed eight new ones and later bought Fortuner 4X4 for each of them.
She also accused the MD of outsourcing a contract to her husband to manage digitalization for the company, a situation the staff finds questionable.
Harriet Okeni Gyata also alleged that one of the female directors who was employed by the New MD took a loan of about 30,000 Euros and left three months after taking the money.
For those that she sacked, including their Marketing Manager, Harriet Okeni Gyata alleged that the MD had refused to pay them monies due them.
“GTP has stayed here over 50 years, we have worked with a number of managers and we have never demonstrated against any manager. Although we have our differences sometimes, we sit down and we jaw- jaw and then we work but this woman will not listen to anybody, right from directors to her level, no director can stand her. She will not listen, immediately you talk, she will sack you from the company and that will not help, because we cannot co-exist If we don’t work as a team ,” she said.
Harriet Okeni Gyata added that, “We want her to leave, we do not want her here. We do not want Fatumata at GTP because she has refused to listen to anybody.”
