Beneficiaries express joy over Tobinco’s door-to-door donation

The vulnerable and needy persons who benefited from the door-to-door donation of food by the Chairman of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Elder Samuel Nana Amo Tobbin I,  have expressed joy over his gesture.
The donation of 2000 packaged food worth over GHS200,000 was done by the Chairman himself, with his Wife, Mrs Araba Sika Tobbin, his children and the management and staff of the Company in four groups.
The packaged food items, which included bag of rice, tubers of yam, gari, oil, mackerel, sugar, wine, tomato paste, onions amongst others were shared in Kotobabi, New town, some slums in Avenor, known as Lucifer kingdom, Kofikrom and Alajo.
It was shared to the vulnerable based on the number of rooms in their houses respectively.

According to most of the beneficiaries, they had nothing to depend on after staying home for three weeks and therefore were overwhelmed with the items received.
For others, had it not been the donation by the Tobinco Boss, they would have slept with hunger.
“All hope was lost and I never thought I would receive something like this. Just when all hope was lost the Tobinco Boss came to knock on my door to give me food. I can’t thank him enough,” one of the beneficiaries said.
“This is not the first time the Tobinco Boss has helped people, he helps the people in my community and my church. I am extremely excited and I pray God continues to bless him,” one widow cried.

Another Beneficiary, an old man also expressed his excitement over the donation, saying that,”We are most grateful to the Tobinco Boss, we know him very well in this area because he always helps us.”
The unprecedented donation was aimed at supporting slum dwellers who have been deprived of their daily bread following the three-week lockdown imposed by the government to contain the rapid spread of the coranavirus pandemic.
Another reason for the house-to-house food distribution method according to Nana Amo Tobbin I, was to give the true meaning of social distancing.
Nana Amo Tobbin I observed that overcrowding that characterised the distribution of food by some organizations was not the best as it poses health risk to the beneficiaries and that he thought it wise to use a more safer way to distribute food to the needy.

Speaking to Atinka TV, Nana Amo Tobbin, noted that, this was the time to extend a helping hand to extremely poor people in the country as most  of them have no food to eat in this lockdown period.
According to him, the excitement and joy on the faces of some of the needy residents when they saw that some help was coming from Tobinco, was an indication that  there are so many people who genuinely need help in this difficult times but they don’t know where the help might come from.
He urged the public to adhere to precautionary measures so that they do not get infected with the coronavirus.
