The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Gomoa East District Assembly, Mr Solomon Darko Quarm has made it known that the Buduburam Refugees Camp after demolition will be used for facilities that will benefit the Central Region and the country as a whole.
According to him, they are planning to build a standard model Senior High School (SHS) on the land, adding that a letter to that effect has been sent to the authorities.
The demolition of portions of the Buduburam Refugees Camp in the Central Region is expected to commence today, Thursday, September 30, 2021.
According to the Authorities, criminal activities are on the rise at the Buduburam Refugee Camp hence the decision.
Despite being given long notice to vacate the camp, most of the residents refused to relocate, saying they were just given peanuts to look for a place of rent.
Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu, Mr Solomon Darko Quarm said women in the community had requested for a market and so they will allocate part of the land to build a market for them.

He also said they will also create a lorry station at the place in order to control the wrong u-turns and reduce traffic on the Kasoa Road.
The DCE noted that the Central East Regional Police Command will be given a part of the 141 -acre land to build a police station.
In addition, he said they will build high rise presidential apartments for people to rent.
Meanwhile, he said 10 acres of the land will be given to 1D1F promoters to build a factory to employ the youth in the area. These, he said when done will give the Buduburam Refugees Camp a new look.
He urged those who are still at the camp to vacate before taskforce storm the place to evacuate them, adding that the residents have been given enough notice.
