COVID-19: Western Region records 8 new cases

The Western Region has confirmed 8 new cases of COVID-19 making it 9 in total.
Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah who disclosed this to Atinkaonline said the new cases of COVID-19 are spread among Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis and Axim in the Nzema East municipality.
He disclosed that 5 of the COVID-19 patients who are residents of Sekondi-Takoradi had traveling history. They were people who returned to the country from UK, USA and Belgium before the lockdown and were asked to isolate themselves with one community infection.The other two cases in Axim are also community infections.
Mr. Okyere Darko-Mensah also revealed that seven of the patients had no signs or symptoms of the coronavirus while the remaining patient showed several signs including cough, headache, feverish with a temperature of 38.8 °C.
The Western Region confirmed its first case of the deadly coronavirus on Sunday April 12, 2020 involving a Chinese national who returned to Ghana on Saturday, 21st March 2020 and was in self isolation for the mandatory period of 14 days.
Aggressive contact tracing has been instituted to ensure all contact persons are traced and tested.
