A former Deputy Minister of Defense, Major Rtd Derek Oduro, says Ghana has not been attacked by terrorists because it has taken security steps ahead of terrorists.

Although Ghana was part of the countries predicted to experience terrorist attacks, he said terrorists have not been able to attack the country because it has upgraded its security at the borders.

Major Rtd Derek Oduro said this in connection with the Coup ng at Burkina Faso.
The Burkina Faso military announced that it had seized power and overthrown President Roch Kaboré on state television on Monday because of the deteriorating security situation.

The military in Burkina Faso says it has seized power and overthrown President Roch Kaboré.
The announcement was made on state television by an army officer, who cited the deteriorating security situation for the military takeover.

Mr Kaboré had faced growing discontent over his failure to stem an Islamist insurgency.

Speaking on Atinka TV‘s morning show, Major Rtd Derrick Oduro said Ghana is not likely to experience such coups because it has resourced its security enough.

“Ghana is really on its feet when it comes to security. Everywhere you pass in Ghana there is security surrounded so do not think that the country is free,” he said.

Major Rtd Derrick Oduro added that, “The US, UK, France gave a prediction that Ghana was going to be attacked immediately but we have been able to prevent it. But the prediction they gave about Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Mali and Togo have all happened but it has not happened here in Ghana because we are really on our feet. I will not say sleep if you sleep, when you sleep, close one eye, and open the other one and alert the security when you see something is not going well because about 80 % or 90 % of the security depends on you and I.”
